TechX Accelerator Launches Global Pioneer Programme
TechX’s New Pioneer programme to support 20 start-ups with up to £100k of funding, expert mentors, global partners to help develop and validate new technologies.
TechX, a unique technology accelerator and incubator, has been generating global interest with its new Pioneer accelerator programme. The programme will fund 20 new start-ups and support them to accelerate their new technology ideas. Already it has received more than 75 applications from 17 countries across five continents and the application process is still ongoing.
Successful applicants for the programme can receive up to £100,000 in funding, which is available to start-ups with new technology ideas. Aside from funding, the ‘Pioneers’ will also have access to support from experienced business mentors; co-working space, business partners, rapid prototyping, test facilities, large-scale field trials, and showcase events. All of this will provide them with opportunities to develop and validate new technologies faster.
Supporting Start-ups to Scale
After all applicants have been reviewed, the selected ‘Pioneers’ will then be based in Aberdeen for a 16-week period. To help anchor their operations in the region and scale up their project, an additional 12-month incubator and funding is available to them once they have completed the initial 16-week programme.
In addition to the core funding and support from TechX, BP Ventures will offer a small, exclusive group of Pioneers a further £100,000 of funding each, as well as dedicated access to BP’s facilities and expertise.
David Millar, TechX Director, said: “We’ve had a great response so far with applications from Nigeria to Norway, Portugal to Pakistan and everywhere in between!”
“We want to work with exciting tech companies from all industries, inside and outside oil and gas. We’re offering a new generation of entrepreneurs unrivalled funding and support to accelerate innovation and look forward to our first Pioneers starting in April.”
Pioneer accelerator programme applications close on 7 February 2018 and can be submitted online.
The Origins of TechX
TechX was established December 2017 to help smaller, ambitious technology developers take their solutions to the oil and gas market – faster. The Oil & Gas Technology Centre, the driving force behind TechX, is a not-for-profit, industry-led, technology research and development organisation based in Aberdeen.
Mark Thomas, Regional President for BP North Sea, said: “I believe TechX can be a catalyst for change in the North Sea that will impact the industry for decades to come.”
