The appointment comes as the specialist HR consultancy firm announces significant revenue growth. Backed by some of Scotland’s leading angel and venture capital investment firms, the business has enjoyed a year-on-year revenue growth of 50% in 2019.
It has also expanded its client base by over 20% and increased its headcount at its Edinburgh headquarters. Neatebox, Speech Graphics (2019 Scottish Tech Startup of the Year), MiAlgae, Platinum Informatics, ALP and FlexMedical are among the company’s new clients. They join the firm’s existing client base that includes Cyan Forensics, PowerPhotonic and xDesign.
Founded by Lisa Thomson in 2014, the company provides commercial HR advice and practical support to early stage and high growth investor-backed businesses including technology, engineering and life sciences startups.
“Scotland continues to be a hotbed for startups and innovation and we’ve seen that positively impact the business over the last twelve months,” Thompson said.
“At the same time, there remain challenges in attracting and retaining talent, ongoing uncertainty around Brexit and that has led to more companies recognising the value of investing in a strong, inclusive employer brand approach.”
In his new role, Deans will be tasked with helping to shape the firm’s business strategy and help to identify areas for growth. Deans, who established Strathblair Associates in 2016, brings with him over 35 years of experience in advising privately held businesses.
