The First Minister will use the platform to set out her plans for supporting entrepreneurship, alongside meeting some of Scotland’s most innovative startups and entrepreneurs.
First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon said: “Working with our partners through Scotland CAN DO, I believe Scotland can become the most entrepreneurial and innovative society in the world.
“Therefore I look forward to participating in this year’s Startup Summit and meeting with our newest entrepreneurs. By nurturing, supporting and inspiring the incredible fresh talent we have here in Scotland, events like this have an important part to play in helping us to realise that vision.”
Bruce Walker, the founder of We Are The Future told DIGIT: “Entrepreneurs from all across the world will come together next week at the Startup Summit and we’re really delighted to be announcing new partners, ECCI and STV on board, alongside the announcement that First Minister of Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon will deliver the opening keynote. Attendees should expect a packed day of incredible talks, practical workshops and advice from some of the most successful leaders in business.”
Brian Baglow, DIGIT’s Senior Staff Writer, who is chairing the panel on Supercharging Startups, told DIGIT: “Scotland is one of the best places in the world to build a new company. There’s a huge amount of support out there through public and private sector organisations such as Business Gateway, the Cultural Enterprise office, the incubators and centres of excellence.
“Everyone we speak to in the tech sector mentions the wonderful talent pipeline through the universities and this is multiplied by the strong sense of community and collaboration that is very rare in other regions.
“Having the first minister open the conference makes a statement about the importance and value of new companies to the economy. I’m looking forward to a fascinating and really useful event.”
