Mallzee Among UK’s Fastest-Growing Businesses

The Edinburgh-based retail analytics firm features alongside Brewdog on the Top 100 list.

Mallzee has been named as one of the UK’s fastest-growing businesses in a recent study.

The report, titled Top 100: Britain’s Fastest-Growing Businesses, was compiled by research agency Beauhurst and SyndicateRoom.

Ranked 84th, Mallzee features alongside Brewdog (ranked 39th) on the list, which identifies some of the UK’s fastest growing firms.

Mallzee Expansion

Launched in 2013 by Cally Russell, Mallzee has undergone significant expansion following the introduction of its retail analytics arm, Mallzee Insights.

Mallzee Insights uses product opinion data through the Mallzee app to help retailers test product performances before costly stock orders.

In turn, this helps retailers to avoid the over and under stock positions currently experienced by firms across the UK.

With more than 1.5 million downloads, Mallzee users have helped generate in excess of 500 million opinions on more than three million products worldwide.

To date, the company has raised more than £5 million in funding, with Russell famously turning down an offer from Dragons Den investor Peter Jones.

Data-Driven Growth

Russel commented: “It’s great to have Mallzee listed alongside some amazing companies from across the UK. Over the last 12-months, we’ve seen fantastic growth in the business driven by our data insights arm, and in particular through our product testing offering.

“As retailers face challenging times, more and more of them are turning to new ways to develop products and ensure they don’t buy the wrong stock. We’re now helping some of the biggest names in the business do just that.

“The high street can be saved but not just through changes to regulation – we need to give people a reason to go into a store. Having great a great product is key to that.”
