Cybersecurity specialist Barrier Networks is issuing a ‘final call’ for registrations to its event on 25th September.
The Glasgow-based firm is hosting the conference, titled Cyber Security – Threat Landscape and Regulatory Requirements, in partnership with Symantec, one of the leading global cyber security vendors.
It will focus on how organisations can contend with today’s rapidly evolving cyber threat landscape and how they can meet their regulatory requirements.
In particular, it will look at at what technical controls and processes companies should have in place for the likes of Cyber Essentials, GDPR and PCI DSS.
The morning of discussions takes place at the Apex Waterloo Place Hotel in Edinburgh city centre and is free to attend.
The event is said to be ideal for IT and security professionals from all sectors with an interest in the latest cyber security trends and thought leadership, as well as those already using, or interested in using, Symantec technologies.
Some of the topics that will be discussed on the day include:
Data Loss Prevention – a few months on from GDPR 80% of organisations still feel inadequately prepared. Data Loss Prevention can discover, monitor and protect sensitive data wherever it is used – on the road or in the cloud – and can help detect insider threats and mitigate the risk of shadow IT.
Patch Management – now that regulatory compliance enforces better control and oversight of your software and devices, you’ll learn why patch management should be an essential part of your security strategy.
Clive Gladwin – Senior Principal SE, Information Security – Symantec
Clive has worked in the IT industry for more than 30 years and operational experience in the public and private sectors. Prior to joining Symantec, Clive was the IM Security Manager for Transport for London. Clive will discuss Data Loss Prevention, how it can help drive total protection of your sensitive data and how it can help you meet your GDPR objectives.
Adam Culich – Senior Infrastructure Analyst – Stirling Council
Adam is and IT and Security Professional who specialises in IT Management, Cloud Infrastructure, IT Project Management and Cyber Security. Prior to joining Stirling Council, he was the Vice President of Technical Services of the California Telehealth Network. Adam will be presenting a case study of the security and regulatory challenges faced by the public sector organisations in Scotland, and how Barrier Networks and Symantec have helped him strengthen the security posture of Stirling Council.
Ian McGowan – Founder and Managing Consultant – Barrier Networks
Ian has more than 18 years experience in cyber security from within Finance, Defence and Government. He has spoken at a number of security conferences including ScotTech and Fortinet 361. His talk will discuss how organisations can stay one step ahead of the attackers and how integrate the Symantec security portfolio into their defences.
