FanDuel.co.uk Site Closed

Daily fantasy sports betting company FanDuel, one of Scotland’s ‘tech unicorns’ has closed it’s UK site to focus on it’s core US market.

The FanDuel.co.uk website is currently displaying the message, ‘Unfortunately, we will not be offering contests in the UK this season. We hope to be back in the future, bringing you more of the games you love.’

The website goes on to state that players with funds in their FanDuel account should have the balance transferred to their most recently registered bank card.

It’s only a matter of weeks since FanDuel announced that it’s proposed merger with rival DraftKings was no longer on the table, after the FTC objected, claiming the resulting company would control 90% of the US daily fantasy sports market.

The FanDuel UK site launched in August 2016. The company’s site claims that in the subsequent 12 months, players in the UK have won almost £1M.
