Cloud service provider Brightsolid has confirmed that Chief Executive Officer Elaine Van Der Berg has left the company after six months in the role. Van Der Berg took over the role in last year from her predecessor Richard Higgs, who had held the position for seven years before resigning at the end of June 2017.
During the interim after Higgs left, the company was without a CEO until she joined the team at the beginning of 2018. Prior to joining Brightsolid, she held a number of senior leadership positions across Europe, Asia Pacific and Australia and has over 20 years experience in the IT sector.
Prior to her role at Brightsolid, Van Der Berg was the Managing Director for Capita, where she looked after their business simulation and transformation group G2G3. Before joining Capita, Van Der Berg was the Director of Business Operation for Optus, one of Australia’s largest telecommunications companies.
With the departure of Van Der Berg, the company will now be on the lookout for its third CEO in relatively short-period of time.
Departure Confirmed by Company Chairman
In a statement confirming Van Der Berg’s departure, Ellis Watson, Chairman of Brightsolid said: “It is with regret that I can confirm Elaine Van Der Berg has left her position as CEO of Brightsolid.
“In just six months, Elaine has made significant progress in building our business plan to allow us to optimise and diversify the Brightsolid business, ensuring we remain a centre of excellence for cloud services in Scotland, providing the best possible services to our clients.
“Until we recruit a new CEO, the business is in the experienced and capable hands of our senior management team, who are working closely with myself and the DC Thomson Board to implement our operational and commercial plans.
“We’d like to thank Elaine for her passion, vision and energy and wish her well in her next venture.”
