DIGIT: Work Placement & Internship Opportunities

DIGIT is offering a number of work placements and intern opportunities, ideally suited to students with a journalistic skill set. Candidates will gain an opportunity to participate in the daily output of the company and contribute to the DIGIT.FYI news site.

About the organisation

DIGIT has rapidly grown into the largest business technology community in Scotland: working alongside partners from industry, academia and government, DIGIT hosts an extensive conference series focused on core emerging technologies and a range of key industry verticals. ​DIGIT also reaches a monthly audience of more than 130,000 via the DIGIT.FYI website and social media channels.



We are looking to take on an intern. This is a paid position based in our Edinburgh office. Candidates would be employed on a provisional six-month basis with the possibility of this being extended.

The role would involve media monitoring, researching global tech & business events, and speaking to relevant stakeholders and experts in the field. The intern would also help produce news/feature articles, conduct interviews and create marketing copy.

Work placements

Opportunities are also available for short term work placements of 1-4 weeks. These placements would be on a voluntary unpaid basis for editorial work experience, giving candidates an opportunity to produce news/feature articles, attend industry events and interview business leaders. Content would cover core business technology issues such as cybersecurity, digital infrastructure and data protection.

Key Requirements

  • Strong written skills and the ability to produce relevant news and features
  • Capable of media monitoring and independent research
  • Comfortable with technology, particularly social media platforms & basic web editing
  • Good interpersonal skills and a persuasive manner
  • Enthusiastic and keen to learn new skills
  • Interest in technology and business journalism would be advantageous
