With ‘Higsy’ as brightsolid CEO, the team has grown as an organisation, opening a new data centre facility in Aberdeen, creating significant channels for its unique regional cloud offerings and winning Scotland’s employer of the year in the SMB section and across all categories. Today. brightsolid is in a good place. It has a solid commercial performance and has expanded and thrived under Richard’s leadership.
Richard said; “Having completed a 7 year cycle as I did for my own company, I think it is the right time to move on. We have just completed a strategic review, the future is bright, fuelled by further innovations already in production, and solid growth is embedded in the business model. Our customers and partners have – and continue to provide – great inputs into the brightsolid model on the understanding that anything we do must be utterly reliable and aid agility in answering the real questions of their organisations we serve. So it is a great time to step back.
“I have to say that a commute of 437 miles is a tad unusual from my normal office location of London, getting married this coming September also means it is probably time to work a little closer to home for some of the time at least. I will enjoy the summer advising the start-ups that I work with and working on a plan to support the further development of cross border development of business – there is no doubt that Scotland is the near-shore location of choice, it should be on many more agendas down south and it will be soon.
“It has been a privilege to work with such a fine and committed team for whom technical innovation and personal service are both a mission and second nature. To our shareholder, DC Thomson a huge thanks for backing and investing in the decision to build a world class data centre in Aberdeen as the Oil price crashed to $36 and for having the desire to make a difference in our society – a subject dear to everyone at brightsolid.”
Ellis Watson, Chairman, said; “Richard is a bundle of passion and energy and everyone here wishes him well with his continued success.”
