Cloud service provider brightsolid have announced the appointment of new CEO Elaine Van Der Berg. The move has come after the resignation of ex-CEO Richard Higgs at the end of June this year. Van Der Berg is slated to join the team in January 2018 from her previous position as Managing Director for Capita, where she looked after their business simulation and transformation group G2G3.
Under ‘Higsy’, brightsolid opened a new data centre facility in Aberdeen, bolstering the company’s position as one of Scotland’s premier cloud-based offerings. After seven years at the helm, Higgs left the company in a ‘good place’, expanding brightsolid not only physically but also charting a solid commercial performance up to his resignation.
Van Der Berg has held a number of senior leadership positions across Europe, Asia Pacific and Australia over her last 20 years in the IT sector. Before joining Capita, Van Der Berg was the Director of Business Operation for Optus, one of Australia’s largest telecommunications companies.
Ellis Watson, Chairman of brightsolid said: “Elaine will help us to build on the productivity, efficiency and dynamism of brightsolid. Our bright and solid team is on a mission to surpass expectations and it’s a genuine pleasure to have strengthened the team for the next exciting phase with the appointment of such an experienced leader.”
